Accenture is one of the largest employers of fresh graduates in India, hiring over 50,000 people annually. Its interview process has a distinctive structure: especially the Communication Test that most candidates underestimate. This guide covers every stage for campus freshers and lateral hires.
Accenture Campus Selection Process
Accenture's campus process for freshers in India runs through five stages.
Stage 1: Cognitive and Technical Assessment (online, 75 min). Stage 2: Communication Test (20 min, asynchronous video). Stage 3: Technical interview (30 min, for select tracks). Stage 4: HR interview. The process is designed to be completed in a single day for campus drives, though off-campus candidates may go through it spread over 1–2 weeks. Two hiring tracks: ASE (Application/Software Engineering): technical and coding focused; ADM (Application Development & Maintenance): more operational, lighter coding requirement.
Cognitive and Technical Assessment
The Accenture online test has four sections that require specific preparation.
Cognitive Assessment (35Q/35min): Abstract Reasoning (identify patterns in shape sequences) and Critical Reasoning (logical deductions from passages). These are similar to SHL/CEB-style psychometric tests: practice on SHL Direct or Job Test Prep. Technical Assessment (40Q/40min): Pseudo-code output tracing, MS Office fundamentals (Word, Excel formulas), and a basic coding concept section (not actual coding, but code comprehension). Communication Test (asynchronous, video): record spoken answers to 3–4 questions on your computer. Assessed on articulation, grammar, and spoken English fluency. This is separate from the main test and scored independently.
Communication Test: The Hidden Eliminator
The Accenture Communication Test eliminates a significant percentage of candidates who do not prepare for it.
Format: 3–4 questions with 30 seconds to read the question and 90 seconds to record your answer (no re-recording in most versions). Sample questions: 'Describe a time you worked on a team project and handled a conflict.' 'What are your strengths and how will they help you at Accenture?' 'Describe the city you live in to someone who has never visited.' Evaluation criteria: clarity and coherence, grammar accuracy, vocabulary range, pronunciation (not accent: clarity is what matters), and response relevance. Preparation: record yourself answering these types of questions on your phone and review playback critically. Most candidates have never heard themselves speak: this is the most impactful 30-minute preparation you can do.

Practice freeTechnical Interview for ASE Track
The Accenture ASE technical interview covers CS fundamentals and basic coding.
OOP concepts: same pattern as other IT service companies: four pillars with examples. Data structures: arrays, linked lists, trees: definitions and use cases. DBMS: SQL queries (SELECT with JOINs, GROUP BY), ACID properties, normalisation basics. OS: process vs thread, CPU scheduling basics. Coding: one easy problem on paper or shared screen: array manipulation, string reversal, or simple pattern printing. Accenture interviewers give credit for a clear thought process even if the code has a minor error: explain your approach before coding.
