Internship interviews in India are the first high-stakes interview most students face. The good news: companies know you have no work experience: they are evaluating your attitude, learning ability, and basic technical or business fundamentals. This guide covers exactly what is asked and how to answer it without sounding unprepared.
Since you have no work experience, companies pivot to other signals. Knowing what they are looking for lets you prepare the right things.
- Learning agility: can you pick up new concepts quickly? Show this with examples from academics or projects
- Basic fundamentals: for tech roles: DSA basics, OOP, SQL; for non-tech: communication, analytical thinking
- Curiosity: do you ask good questions? Genuine curiosity is a huge differentiator among students
- Cultural fit: will you be a good team member for 2–6 months? Your attitude matters more than your skills
- Initiative: did you do anything beyond your syllabus: side projects, open source, competitions, research?
